Capricorn)

Yu Wooi updated me with Jay Chou's new album - 魔杰座. So far I have only seen 稻香 on youtube and I cannot believe that this song made me feel like crying. So nostalgic. The melody and the lyrics totally match well. What more can I say? Jay Chou is SUPER talented!! What are you waiting for? Click on the video below and watch it yourself!!!

Blood Donation

Went for blood donation today...
Managed to pass all the "theory tests", the minimum weight limit test as well as the blood pressure test.

However...

I failed the last "test" - Haemoglobin test. The minimum requirement was 120 on the reader (Don't know the units) but I was short of 10. The interviewer told me that finger prick wasn't that accurate and suggested me to do the blood test from the vein. The down side of it is that both of my arms will be poked with needles - one from blood test, one from blood donation. Frankly speaking, I still need my right arm for some work, so I decided not to donate. She said I'm alright to walk out today but...

I won't be able to donate for the next 6 months.

They have me blacklisted!!!

It doesn't matter. They have a surplus of O-positive blood anyway.
Yes, I have the most common blood in the whole world.
Guess they wouldn't need my blood so urgently afterall!

Hello? Needed some Luck here!

No Luck. Really no luck.
Arsenal lost to Hull City with a score of 1 vs 2.
There were so many chances to score a goal but they just let the opportunity slip out of their "feet". Guess luck was really not on their side in this game.

Damn those dirty players.
Did they bribe the referee or what?
Such obvious body tackle and player kicking didn't earn them yellow cards? FINE! JUST ONE yellow card out of so many attempts of intention attacks.
Damn!
Sad...
I have to admit that Hull City really have good defense which was pretty hard to break through.

Hmm... it's okay! We have 32 matches more to go.
Looking forward to the next match vs Sunderland.
I will put the celebration on hold till they kick some asses.

PS. Yay! They beat Sheffield United with a score of 6 vs 0 in the Carling Cup. Good work!
PPS. I think I'm obsess with football already.

Quote of the day

Promises can be tricky. Sometimes you just need to let things happen in their own time, in their own way. Everything happens for a reason.

Haunting

I walked down to the kitchen, passing by the sorted mails.
What? That mail wasn't there early in the day!!
I picked it with a tremble, rubbing my eyes to confirm that it was mine by reading the name off it.
Tseng Hsin-Yi, candidate number 000506.
Yes, that's me.
I felt dizzy instantly as if I was drifting in the sea.
I feel so strengthless that couldn't stand up straight.

I know this day will come.
Not that soon, but soon enough to haunt me.
My mind went blank.
I dragged myself upstairs, into my room.

I put the mail on my desk and collapsed onto the chair.
Staring at it for a few minutes, I slowly opened my drawer and dug out a pair of scissors.
Butterflies! I felt butterflies in my stomach.
I took a deep breath and started cutting the edge of the envelop.
I put down the scissors and peeped into the envelop. It was just a thin piece of paper.

I was so nervous that I think I have forgotten how to breathe!
I pull out the paper cautiously.

I passed!
Passed the minimum requirement for IELTS.
I remembered taking IELTS 4 years ago. It was apparent that my English has greatly improved. Like I said, I'm not greedy... I don't want 8's or 9's, I'll be satisfied with a band of 7.0 for all components... and I did!

Who should I thank? Who should I thank? I was grateful that my writing result turned out well. Previously, I was very upset that I did not have enough words for my critical reasoning and I knew they would penalise me for that. But... it doesn't matter anymore. Because I have gotten what I wanted. I can do better and I know that. I'm greedy for a higher band but I should learn to be grateful for such a result.

The first person that come into my mind that I want to thank is...

*drum roll*

HL!

During exams, I'm always the pessimist and he gave me the confidence. I have been complaining to him that I did not prepare anything, didn't join any workshop, didn't have a good night rest and didn't even have breakfast on the day itself! The weather was terrible and my mood was totally down. After exams, I was mumbling on "if I could have more time", "I'm never going to make it", etc etc. Everytime when I say that, he will reply, "no problem one".

When KH and Sze Yee got their results, I got even more pessimistic because out of the 3, both of them seemed to be quite confident in the writing component. We had comparable results afterall. Is that because I have higher expectation on my performance or maybe I wasn't being penalised because I had enough words? I didn't count word by word because I'm already running out of time!

HL was even expecting me to get 9's!! When I told him my result was out, he asked," So how many 9's did you get?" Come on!! He really think I have to ability to get 9's. I wish loR...

Not only I want to thank him for his support, also being a topic that I could talk about during my speaking component - The person that I enjoy spending time with. Haha... I remember reading the newspaper saying that he benefits from other people's misfortune but the benefit that he gains can benefit the others too. I was complaining to him that I was so unfortunate that few weeks and that he must have benefited from me. But he said, I benefited from him too because he was my IELTS speaking topic. I guess he was right.

Finally, I got over my IELTS.

More things to haunt me, yet to come.

PS. Congratulations to Sze Yee, who did so well that she got a band of 9.0 for listening! Woohoo!

Just thoughts...

Guys should experience the menstruation cycles too.
So that they know how suffering the cramp is...
So that they know how frustrating it is...
So that they won't complain our mood-swing...
So that they will be more considerate while we are having ours!

Urgh!

Let's drink our worries away...

It was Elisha's Birthday Party yesterday and we were invited to the Clarendon Hotel for a drink. After the bad experience in the Grand Hotel the other day, I never dare to order any alcoholic drinks anymore. I had a lemonade while HL ordered a Carlton Draught. HL champion laR! Once he finished the first serving, he went to get the 2nd serving and the THIRD! What's more, after Clarendon Hotel, Elisha asked us over to the Finnegan's to continue. So, there we went! The first thing HL asked me was, "Want to get anything?"

*faint*

Yes, he got a VB and I had another lemonade. Haha... if KH is reading this he will be like, "Cindy, why you so useless one? Go pub order soft drinks!?!"

Actually, I don't understand what do they usually do in pubs? After you order a drink, you find a good spot and chill there? What else? Kill time? At least for me, it is. I really have to salute those people like Tim who can drink so many servings a night! That is totally insane!

We took a seat after getting our drinks and I stared at the TV, watching Liverpool vs Stoke City. That game totally bores me! Why? Because HL told me that Stoke City isn't that good so I had high hopes in Liverpool. Then what? Draw. As an amateur, I can see that Liverpool didn't play well. Even a keh-leh-feh like me who doesn't watch football can see that. Disappointment! I'm sure KF and William must be very disappointed too. Obviously we did not sit there full 2 hours watching that boring match. We went into another room and joined the group of people dancing on the dance floor. Surprisingly, shaking hips and butts was actually quite tiring. You know, had too much mooncake already... so I have to shake my excessive fats off myself. Haha!

Sophie and Elisha kept on praising how cute my dress was. I felt flattered. They were cute in their cocktail dress too! Sophie with her bright red strapless knee-length cocktail dress, and Elisha with her orange above-knee-length dress (that actually cost her AUD140!!). *Shake shake shake shake* shake our excessive fats off~~ We chill until they were about to close before we head back for Arsenal vs Bolton match... oh wait... Bolton vs Arsenal. I was quite surprised that I had the energy to watch another match at 2.30am when I was actually falling asleep in the pub. The first 30 minutes were really exciting because Bolton managed to score a goal through free kick and Arsenal was lagging behind. After several trials, they wasted many good opportunities to score. However, they managed to score 2 goals in less than 10 minutes apart during the first 30 minutes! So gan jiong, so exciting! Nothing fascinating during the beginning of the 2nd half. Frankly speaking, I nearly fell asleep. However, during 87 minutes (if I'm not mistaken), they scored another goal, winning with a score of 1 vs 3!

Yay! Arsenal won. We should celebrate.

Totally nonsense post.
Just felt like typing something.

Visited Sana's blog today only to find out a good movie -
This movie just broke the $100 million record yesterday in Taiwan.
Yes, ONLY in Taiwan.
Therefore, I went to do a google and youtube search. Viola, found the movie trailer. They even have it in English Subs! Cool huh...
It's a combination of romance & comedy and because of the language they use (colloquial style Taiwanese + Mandarin), it made the movie even funnier! Honestly, the English Sub translation was good (meaning was there) but not as funny as the original version. You know, sometimes you can't take certain phrases too literally or else it wouldn't be that funny. Also, a phrase could be expressed in different ways but actually means the same. Very colloquial.
The songs were nice too! I'm so gonna download them!
I was so excited and vow to watch that when I could!
Some people even left comments in youtube saying that no other movies other than "The Dark Knight" can compete with Cape No. 7 this year. Oh well, you can't compare 2 different styles of movie like that. But, if people actually left comments saying its comparable to the movie that I like the most this year, I certainly will watch it!!

Argh~~~

*heart itchy*

I feel so proud of Taiwan! Hahaha!!

Shut up arrogant b*tch!
Everyone makes mistakes!
It wasn't even a mistake at the first place!
Just some common random habit, and you have a problem with that?
Don't you do that too?
If you have a problem with that, screw yourself!
Don't you dare think that I can be bullied so easily!
You haven't seen the other side of me yet.

New mp3 player!

I sort of "stole" Kimberly's teddybear mp3 player.
Saw it in her blog and thought it was really cute!
Most importantly, the colour suits my template!!!

PS. Actually you can customise the teddybear so I guess it can be in any colour you wanted.

Possible reasons why DMB is haunted...

1) DMB was located right next to the old Royal Newcastle Hospital and was connected by a bridge in each floor.
2) DMB level one was Forensic Pathology aka the morgue.
3) Dave barked towards the female toilet entrance in Fishbowl.
4) Dave suddenly disappeared into the female toilet "to play" and reappeared when Nicole called.
5) Posters just fall off the wall for no reason.
6) I heard footsteps loitering up and down outside my office late at night.
7) HL heard timer beeping irregularly in Foster's lab late at night when there was obviously nobody else around.
8) I heard someone knocking on the window at the corridor late at night and pretended that I didn't know anything.

Argh... freaking scary!

Part 1

HL and I have been pampering ourselves these days. After my whole 2 weekdays + weekends of R+C and his god-knows-how-many-weeks-of-weekend-less, we pampered ourselves for the first time. It's more like I had a night dose to do in the lab and so we decided to eat out. However, we were sort of sick of those same old food on Hunter Street, so I suggested, "Let's walk to Darby Street!" We decided to have dinner in Goldberg's. Not to forget, complaining how disappointing the Merdeka Dinner was, food wise, and that Goldberg's was so much better.

We had ice chocolate...

Bread of the day for starters...

And pasta as our main course... As you can see, there was no photo taken for the pasta, because we were toooooo busy eating!! *Hehe*

*happiness*

Spent like around AUD21 per person. Yes! 4 dollars cheaper than Merdeka Dinner and we felt so contented! Bloated! =D

Part 2

Once again, we pampered ourselves after a long day of RNA extractions. That wasn't our plan for today. It was raining. Cold and windy. We stood outside DMB King Street entrance, shivering hungrily in the dark. I was grateful that Emma lent me her umbrella as I have left mine at home!! BUT, UMBRELLA DOESN'T HELP IN THIS KIND OF WEATHER!! Staring into the sky, the sky was covered with clouds. The rain drops were huge. The wind was strong. "It seemed that the rain will not stop anytime soon." said HL. "Ya, I guess so." I replied.

*sigh*

Suddenly, Eric came running down and told us that he could give us a lift!!! Aww! Life saviour!! He invited us for dinner too, since we all haven't had our dinner yet. It was past 9pm. We had nowhere else to go but Goldberg's. Unfortunately, Goldberg's was FULL! Oh well, it is always full anyway... So, Adeline walked over to Anacapri to check out if they still serve dinner. Straight to the point, we had our dinner in Anacapri. To my disappointment, the price was dear and the pasta was not as good as Goldberg's. ~_~ BUT, it was still cheaper than Merdeka Dinner!!! We even had a big piece of cake per person as dessert!! Cost me about AUD22. Check out our desserts!!

Adeline's lemon-lime tart
My Chocolate Mousse
HL's Concord???
Eric's Chocolate Mud Cake

Did you realise that the girl's had hearts and the guys had some random scribbles? *Hehe*

Random Question of the day...

HL: Why your heart black colour one?

Yes, we have been laming...

*Satisfaction*

Lastly... One random photo of 可魯 and I during Merdeka Dinner...
He was my 可魯 earlier in that day...
Why? To cut story short, I was so busy that I didn't eat anything that day. Low blood glucose and was feeling faint. Couldn't focus. Everything I see was a blur. So he was like 可魯 guiding the blind loR... No doubt, I'm the blind.

Thanks! Owe you too much...

Me: See this photo we took! *showing*
HL: Eh, quite nice wor...
Me: Of course, good camera mah...
HL: No la... it's the people in the photo la...
Me: You know, I'm in the photo, that means it includes me! *Muahahaha*
HL: But you said it's the camera mah...
Me: Nah, that includes me too! *Thick Skin*

PS. Wallet: *Vomit Blood*

Free Tour?

I sort of applied for the Japan tour a while ago.
There were 15 places available and everything will be paid by the Uni.
It will be a good opportunity to take a look at another place of the world.
There are THOUSANDS of applications and they will be picking 15 only.
Like a friend once told me, "If you never try, the chances of getting it will be 0%. But if you tried, even the chance is so low that it can be negligible, there is still a chance of getting it." (sort of modified what he said)
So... I applied!
No matter if I get it or not, I will be satisfied.
At least, I've tried!
